Life Like Ours – Wednesday 1st May 2024

We are of this planet in so many ways to my mind. We have evolved here, we are attuned to every facet of this planet, our immunities are based solely on this planet, the air, atmosphere, the ratio of gases, it’s gravity. We haven’t experienced germs, bacteria etc., from another planet. And I tend to think we’d have great difficulty on another.
Quite often I feel that being on a ball in space (as we are) is fairly strange. I understand the temptation to think of our perhaps existing far beyond here, billions of years ago, in a place far different to this universe.
If that happened, what were we? We wouldn’t be as we are. Why are the other primates here? Are we special and they not? They’re so much like us. If there was life like us beyond our universe, we couldn’t be anything like we are here. Unrecognisable. We have to live on a planet. Our design is for that environment. We have grown so intelligent that I think we have a need for our story to be something even more remarkable. I think we already are remarkable and our origins, as it is.
Only something existing for billions of years would go to all this trouble.
If life just, was, ie purposeless, aimless then we might as well be cellular blobs mightn’t we?
Life does find a way, but only when the right environment for it is provided.
